Leeds winger Raphinha is closing in on a deal worth £55m to join Barcelona after missing his side’s pre-season tour of Australia; Brazilian did not travel with the rest of the Leeds squad on the tour Down Under

Barcelona are close to finalising a deal for Leeds winger Raphinha.

The player is now heading out to Barcelona where he is expected to undergo a medical.

Leeds manager Jesse Marsch is due to speak to the media later on Wednesday morning in Australia and is likely to provide a further update.

Raphinha did not travel with the rest of the squad on the tour Down Under. Chelsea were previously believed to be the front-runners for the Brazilian international, but Barcelona appear to have moved ahead of them with an 11th-hour bid.

The initial fee is €58m (£49m), but could rise to more than 65 (£55m) with add-ons.
